What is a tab/category?

Organising your information into groups helps people to navigate around your website.

Note that all images below are taken from a standard Plone website - your website may have a different look, so the images are only a guide, they may not be exact.

You probably have lots of information on your website - or you plan on adding lots! Finding the information people need can be confusing, unless you organise your website. Here is how to do that.

Each of the Tabs across the top of your website gives people an idea of what information is in that area. So they can quickly find the information they need, if it's not on your Home page. We have added some basic categories to your website when we designed it for you, but you may want to add new main areas or organise subcategories inside the ones we gave you.

In Plone, a tab/category or subcategory is called a Folder. So don't be scared if you see that - it just means a holder for web pages, organised into a group.
